WELCOME to the CRAFT Theatre Co. page!
HISTORY:
5 years ago the teaching members of CRAFT Theatre School decided to set up their own theatre company: giving them the chance to work with adult professionals and also giving the school a progression for students who have worked their way up the school. CRAFT Theatre Company then became a fantastic mix of teachers, professional performers, ex-students, current students and occasionally even parents!
We took to the stage with our own DEREK DOUGLAS's comedy musical "And They Played Shang-A-Lang" in December 2005. In our school uniforms and tartan we sang, acted and danced our way through the story of what growing up in the 70's was really like!
After receiving fantastic reviews from audience and cirtics alike we then took on another one of DEREK DOUGLAS's shows "Back to the 60's" Off came the school uniforms and on went the tie-dye and mini-skirts with another hilarious comedy musical.
Over the next 2 years CRAFT took to the stage with their own concept show "Once Upon a Musical" and "Once Upon a Musical 2" During these shows we truly showed the length and breadth of Musical Theatre, putting bucket loads of energy into bringing our audiences songs and dances from the biggest musicals ever!
Next came our largest project to date; as the cast and team of CRAFT took on the massively emotional project of Jonathon Larson's award winning musical "RENT!" The company truly reached new highs with the challenging and beautiful material of the fantastic rock-opera and audiences were left stunned by affect and impact of what the amazing cast and crew produced.
Most recently we took on another barnd new project. Our own HANNAH BAKER wrote the companies first Panto "The Devil Wears Panto" an Ugly Betty inspired look at the story of Cinderella complete with fashion show and audience make-over!
In amongst all of this CRAFT has taken on cabaret performances, has sang at a Christmas light ups, taken "Once Upon a Musical" to Peebles Eastgate Theatre AND bag packed for charity.
CRAFT has also made money for Waverley Care and CHAS
WHAT'S NEXT?

However that's not to say that we at CRAFT are taking it easy! We have many other projects in the pipe-line at the moment including our up-and-coming "DIVA'S:LIVE!" auditions and performance! We are also in the process of setting uo a brand new element to our company - CRAFT:Live! - which will bring the cast, voices and dancing of a CRAFT production to events near you. Our "GLEE" inspired vocal group will be available for hire in the next few weeks!
